Activator 400 NP | Adhesion Activator for Non-Porous Surfaces

Activator 400 NP is a specially formulated adhesion promoter for pre-treating specific non-porous surfaces such as plastics, metals, and glass to improve the bonding strength of U-Seal and SiMP-Seal adhesives. It is also suitable for applications in the automotive and BTR industries.

  • Plastics, fiberglass, and other non-porous composite materials

  • Surface and paint coatings (epoxy and polyester-coated steel sheets)

  • Metals such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, electroplated steel, etc.

  • Float glass and ceramic-coated glass (frit)

Application

Activator 400 NP is used to clean and enhance adhesion on a variety of non-porous surfaces such as plastics, painted surfaces, metals, ceramics, and glass. For automotive glass applications, refer to NPT’s guidelines for the procedure. Activator 400 NP can be used to improve adhesion on the following non-porous surfaces:

  • Plastics, fiberglass, and other non-porous composite materials

  • Surface and paint coatings (epoxy and polyester-coated steel sheets)

  • Metals such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, electroplated steel, etc.

  • Float glass and ceramic-coated glass (frit)

Instructions for Use

Ensure the surface is thoroughly cleaned. Dip a lint-free cloth or soft sponge into Activator 400 NP and wipe the surface to remove impurities, allowing it to dry for 10 minutes, but no longer than 2 hours. If adhesive application is not performed within 2 hours, the surface can be re-activated by applying a second treatment of Activator 400 NP, with a maximum of one additional application. Ensure the activator is fully dry and non-tacky before proceeding with bonding. Activator 400 NP has a consumption rate of approximately 40 ml/m². Close the bottle immediately after use. If the Activator 400 NP bottle is left open in the air for an extended period, the liquid may become cloudy and lose its effectiveness. Do not use the cloudy material. Ensure the bottle is tightly sealed after each use to prevent this. Use within one week after opening. Preliminary testing is recommended before applying to surfaces, including tests for pressure cracking. Do not use Activator 400 NP to remove or treat U-Seal or SiMP adhesives.

Cleaning Instructions

Clean tools with acetone or solvent. When the material is uncured, it can be wiped off with paper or cloth. Once cured, removal can only be done mechanically. Avoid direct skin contact by wearing latex, rubber, or polyethylene gloves. If contact with skin occurs, remove immediately and wash with soap and water.

Storage Instructions

Activator 400 NP can be stored for 12 months in its original (unopened) packaging at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C in a cool, dry place. The storage temperature should not exceed 25°C for extended periods. Keep away from damp areas, direct sunlight, and heat sources.
