U-Seal 501 | Super-Fast Curing, One-Component Elastic Polyurethane Adhesive

U-Seal 501 is a one-component polyurethane adhesive and sealant that cures very quickly, designed for vehicle body construction and repair. This product has been specifically developed to meet the needs of the automotive industry. Thanks to its balanced viscosity, it can be easily brushed and treated to match original markings. Once cured, the product achieves high stiffness, providing an appearance similar to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components.

  • One-component polyurethane

  • Suitable for cold temperature applications

  • Wide adhesion range

  • Simultaneous bonding and sealing

  • Very fast skinning and curing time

  • Can be painted over, even within a short time, with various water-based and solvent-based paints (preliminary testing recommended)

  • Easy to handle, brush, and smooth

  • Capable of withstanding high dynamic loads

  • Permanent flexibility

  • Features shock absorption and soundproofing

Application

U-Seal 501 is ideal for sealing joints such as welds and overlaps in all interior body sections and painted metal, including restoring original brush marks, simple bonding, as well as vibration reduction and soundproofing in vehicle body repair and construction. Suitable surfaces include metals, metal primers, and paint layers (2-component systems), and painted plastics.

Instructions for Use

Surfaces to be bonded must be thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free from dust or grease. Pre-treat the bonding surface according to NPT’s application guidelines, and use a specific cleaning or activation product from NPT’s range. It is recommended to conduct preliminary adhesion tests on the supporting surface.

Pierce the protective membrane at the front thread. Screw the nozzle into place and cut the angle to the desired thickness and shape. Place the cartridge into a manual or pneumatic caulking gun (equipped with a retractable piston) and carefully apply the adhesive/sealant to avoid trapping air. After opening, the product should be used within a relatively short time. The optimal operating temperature for both the surface and adhesive is between 15°C and 25°C.

Shaping and finishing should be done while the sealant is still tacky. U-Seal 501 can be painted over. Paint compatibility should be tested through preliminary trials. Caution is advised when using alcohol or alkyd resins, as they may interfere with the curing process of the adhesive and extend the drying time of the paint layer. It should be understood that the hardness and thickness of the paint layer can weaken the sealant’s elasticity and lead to cracking of the paint layer.

Do not allow the adhesive to cure in the presence of curing silicone sealants. Avoid contact with alcohol and solvent-based cleaning agents during curing. When applying the adhesive, avoid trapping air. Since this system cures with moisture, ensure adequate exposure to air.

Cleaning Instructions

Clean tools using acetone or solvent. When the adhesive is uncured, it can be wiped off with paper or cloth. Once cured, removal can only be done mechanically. Avoid direct skin contact by wearing latex, rubber, or polyethylene gloves. If the adhesive contacts skin, remove immediately and wash with soap and water.

Storage Instructions

U-Seal 501 can be stored for 12 months in its original (unopened) packaging at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C in a dry, cool place. The storage temperature should not exceed 25°C for extended periods. Keep away from damp areas, direct sunlight, and heat sources.
